Workshop: Intro to Contemporary Art Quilts

There are many different approaches to making an art quilt. In this class we will explore some of the different techniques used to create a non-traditional quilt top. This class is for both beginners and for quilter, who want to leave the traditional quilt block behind.We will talk a little bit about design and composition and the student will be introduced to cutting and sewing curves, using freezer paper, figuring out how to create seam-lines and working with tradition shapes in an untraditional way.

The student must bring a sewing machine and know how to use it.

Fiber Arts: Bowl Making

This new technique will teach you how to make a very sturdy multi-layered fabric bowl. There are unlimited possibilities for the design of the inside of the bowl. In this class we will concentrate on working with directional fabrics. After this class you will have a completed bowl. Must know how to use a sewing ma- chine, rotary cutter and template.
